Centurion: 128-mpg Diesel-Powered Sports Car

Centurion combines diesel-engine efficiency with the effects of high engine loading, reduced vehicle weight, and good aerodynamics to push fuel economy well past the 100-mpg mark. And one of the most straightforward ways to reduce emissions is to reduce the amount of fuel consumed. In reality, many other variables affect engine-out emissions, but assuming equal technology, reduced fuel consumption loosely translates into reduced emissions.

Ford's tiny Ka might come to America after all: 1.3L diesel engines, A diesel version of the Ka gets 42 miles per gallon of fuel in combined city-highway driving under U.S. testing standards

Ford CEO Alan Mullaly told Detroit radio station WJR that the company is reconsidering whether to bring its smallest car to the U.S. market. Ford officially introduced the second-generation Ka last week at the Paris Motor Show and up until now has not planned to offer the car in the U.S. The Ka is much smaller than even the Fiesta that will arrive in early 2010.

Cadillac Considering V-8 Diesel Option for CTS?

The folks over at Motor Trend have gotten word that GM is currently talking about the possibility of fitting its 4.5-liter Duramax V-8 turbo-diesel under the hood of the Cadillac CTS. Their sources say that fitting the engine would be relatively easy, so long as Cadillac uses the raised hood found on the new-for-2009 CTS-V.

A diesel Honda that gets 62.8 miles a gallon?

Feast your eyes on this, car technology and high-mileage nuts. It's a Honda Accord that runs on diesel.

Honda expects to bring the clean-diesel car to the U.S. by 2010. It gets 62.8 miles a gallon on the highway, but otherwise looks and feels like a regular Accord. At that mileage level, the car is about as "clean" as a new Toyota Prius. But if you run it on biodiesel, a form of diesel made from vegetable oil or animal fat, it would be even cleaner than a Prius (Priuses get 60 in the city).

The advantage of diesel cars, however, is that they pack a lot of power.

2008 Mercedes-Benz Bluetec SUV Test Drives: Diesel Engine Offers Hope for Big Vehicles

MANCHESTER, Vermont— Maybe it’s misplaced emotion, but at times, one finds it hard not to feel a little sympathy for the car companies these days. After all, skyrocketing fuel prices have taken a big bite out of the historically profitable truck and SUV segments. Sure, small-car sales are up, but the consumer demand for more <a href="http://www.popularmechanics.com/drivegreen"&
