The last time gasoline cost less than $3 a gallon in Northeast Wisconsin was February 20th.

After peaking near $4 a gallon a month ago, prices in Green Bay have dipped almost one dollar.

Milford (WTNH) -- Gasoline prices have been dropping steadily over the past few weeks, but folks who fill up with diesel aren't seeing as much relief at the pumps.

According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of unleaded today is $3.25 a gallon, down from the high of $4.39 set July 9th. That's a difference of $1.14.

Gasoline prices in Connecticut have been steadily falling — down $1 Friday since peaking in July — and so have diesel fuel prices.

Just not as much.

Diesel still costs about 76 cents a gallon more than regular gas in Connecticut, according to AAA, averaging about $4.14 a gallon in the state on Friday. Federal energy officials expect diesel to cost significantly more than regular gas well into 2009, especially as residents clamor for heating oil for the coming winter.
